Type Locality and Naming

SW Algeria. Its Type Locality is at Mehden Yahya (Yahia), while the Type Section is at Adrar Morat (Wendt et al., 2006).

Synonym: Gres de Mehden Yahia Fm

Lithology and Thickness

Thin-bedded, medium-grained, partly cross-bedded, brownish sandstones and clays. The thickness of this unit varies considerably, between 3 m and 120 m. (Wendt et al., 2006).


Lithology Pattern:

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It conformably overlies the Argiles de Mehden Yahya Fm.

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Temertasset Fm.
